We began as the Cork Tinnitus Support Group in 1997 and have been part of the Irish Tinnitus Association since then. Our group consists of people who have tinnitus, some for many years, and who have learned to live full lives in spite of the condition. We believe that the encouragement and support from someone who has learned to live with tinnitus is particularly valuable.
We hold meetings of our support group each month. [Click here for details]. However, the need for a more comprehensive support service for those suffering with tinnitus became obvious to us early on, and since 2002, a range of services has been developed to meet those needs. [Click here for details of the services in Cork]. Tinnitus services are provided at the premises of the Cork Deaf Association at 5 MacCurtain Street in Cork.
Please note that the Tinnitus Support Service in Cork is only available to people in the HSE South area (i.e. Cork City and County). A similar service is available in Killarney for County Kerry. (Contact the office of DeafHear.ie in Killarney for details).
We are an entirely voluntary group. We receive funding to support our services from the HSE and on occasion from National Lottery grants. The Irish Tinnitus Association to which we belong depends on the subscriptions of its members.
